Easy Banana Nut Bread

This is a super easy recipe for banana bread that you can easily add nuts to if desired. The recipe for this bread is great for breakfast, a snack, a gift for your hostess, or a side to your meal. Plus, this specific Chocolate Chip Banana Bread keeps well, when stored properly, and stays fresh and moist much longer than other recipes for banana bread.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Adding chocolate chips to banana bread gives it an extra depth of flavor that most people, especially chocolate lovers love! If you are one of the few who prefers to not eat chocolate at all, chocolate chips can easily be excluded from the recipe. For everyone else who enjoys indulging the cocoa goodness, this will add an extra pop of sweetness to an otherwise deliciously savory bread.

(Anything But) Basic Banana Bread Recipe

Although banana bread is a classic type of bread recipe, this bread recipe is anything but your basic banana bread. Often times, there will be an aspect of the recipe that makes the bread dry out quickly or not last very long. This recipe is better than your average banana bread recipe because the flavors blend together well and it lasts a fairly long time.

Easy Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe (One-Bowl)

Amongst your basic quick bread ingredients, this recipe has two key ingredients that make it an amazing creation. These ingredients are chocolate chips and bananas.

What’s in the Chocolate?

You can use any kind of chocolate chips that you prefer. Three of my favorite kinds to use are dark chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, or mini chocolate chips. The dark chocolate is enjoyable because it is not quite as sweet, but gives you a delicious hint of rich chocolate. Milk chocolate works great if you enjoy the added sweetness that chocolate can provide. Finally, mini chocolate chips work very well, when you want just a hint of chocolate in your banana bread.

What about Bananas?

Bananas are the other key ingredient to this recipe. The best types of bananas to use in this bread are ones that are a little too far gone to eat for most people. The kinds of bananas that have begun to turn quite brown, with just a hit of yellow remaining will make the best banana bread once mashed in. Now, let’s start gathering our ingredients so we walk through the process of making this tasty banana bread.

The ingredients you’ll need to gather are:

Vegetable oil
All-purpose flour
Granulated sugar
Baking soda
Salt
Eggs
Ripe bananas
Chocolate chips

This is how you make the bread:

The process of making this bread is quite simple and you will only need one mixing bowl. To begin, gather all of the ingredients and make sure you have enough of everything.

This recipe will make two loaves.

To begin making the bread, add all of your dry ingredients to the bowl and mix them together. Next, add in all of your wet ingredients. Mix them all together just until your batter is combined and no lumps remain.

Add chocolate chips and stir just until they are mixed in. Spray your bread pans with cooking spray, pour your batter dividing it between two bread pans.  Make sure they have close to the same amount of batter in each pan.

Place them into the oven and bake until your toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool for a few moments before you remove the bread from your pan. Remove from the bread pan, and allow for the bread to cool completely. Now you get to taste the delicious bread and see what you think about the amazing taste.

1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs
6 bananas
2 cup chocolate chips

Preparation

Start by gathering your ingredients and making sure you have everything you need. If you do not have enough of everything, you can always cut the recipe in half to only make one loaf of bread if desired. Begin by heating your oven to temperature before starting in to make the bread.

Directions

Step 1: Preheat Oven

Preheat oven to 350°F

Step 2: Prepare Bread Pan

Spray an 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 bread pan with cooking spray

Step 3: Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine your dry ingredients, including flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. Mix dry ingredients together.

Step 4: Wet Ingredients

Add in vegetable oil, eggs, and bananas. Mix all ingredients together, just until combined. Add in chocolate chips and mix just until combined.

Step 5: Cooking Instructions

Pour into a baking dish, and bake for 60-80 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 6: Serve

Remove from oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes. Then remove from baking pan and allow to finish cooling. Serve and enjoy!

Cook’s Notes

This is a pretty straightforward recipe. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions above and your bread should turn out well.

Quick Banana Bread Tips:

Bananas. The ripeness of your bananas plays a part in the outcome of your bread. It is best to use bananas that have begun to turn brown but still have a little bit of yellow color visible. You don’t want the bananas to be rotten, just ripe.

Chocolate Chips. The type of chocolate chips you decide to use is up to you. If you prefer that your chocolate chips don’t all sink to the bottom of your bread, try tossing them with a bit of flour, until they are coated in flour. Then add some of your bread batter to the bread pan without the chocolate chips. Next, mix your chocolate chips into the remaining batter and add that on top of your already poured batter before you bake.

Doneness. Knowing if your bread is done can sometimes be difficult. Your bread will be golden brown around the edges, and a toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean. If it does not then your bread needs to bake longer. If it is still gooey in the center, but getting too brown on the outside, you can cover the top of your bread with foil to keep it from burning.

Pan. Please keep in mind that the type of pan you use has an impact on how long your loaf of bread takes to cook. The size, color, and material of your pan all play a part in how long it will take to bake your bread. It is a good practice to set your timer for the lesser estimated baking time and check on your bread to make sure it has not been overcooked.
