Ingredients Needed:
Frozen Tater Crowns. To make tater tot crowns in the air fryer, you’ll want to pick up one bag of frozen tater crowns, preferably Ore Ida Crispy crowns.
Oil. We recommend using a drizzle of olive oil over the crowns before air frying them. This is not required, but it is recommended. You don’t need extra oil, just a little drizzle is perfect.
Seasoning Salt (Optional). Most tater crowns come pre-seasoned, but if you want to add a little bit of additional salt, or seasoning salt after the tater crowns are drizzled with oil, feel free to do so.
Cooking Time: Please note that all air fryers are different and may cook differently. Our recommended cook time is approximately 10 to 13 minutes, but you may need to add or subtract time depending on your specific air fryer.
How to make Frozen Crispy Crowns in the Air Fryer
Begin by preheating your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
When the air fryer is preheated, remove the air fryer basket, and add the tater crowns into the basket in a single layer.
Replace the air fryer basket into the air fryer, and air fry for approximately 5 minutes.
Remove the air fryer basket and give it a good shake.
Return the air fryer basket and continue air frying for another 5 to 8 minutes depending on your air fryer.
After the cooking time is up, open the air fryer basket and check on the tater crowns to make sure they have turned a beautiful golden brown.

Recipe Tips & Adaptations
Whole Bag. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you are not likely to be able to air fry a whole bag of tater crowns at one time. You will get the best results for air frying your tater crowns while only cooking a single layer of potatoes at one time. You might need to air fry more than one batch in order to cook an entire bag.
Air Fryer vs Deep Frying. Although using hot oil to deep fry potatoes is delicious, or even using an electric deep fryer, it takes quite a bit of time, and working with very hot oil to do this. Using the air fryer is a great alternative and has many health benefits.
The cook time tends to be shorter when using an air fryer, and it circulates the hot air inside to warm the air fryer, rather than the tater crowns soaking up so much oil. We think that the results to air fry tater crowns are very delicious and hope you will too!
Variations
Loaded Crispy Crowns. Want to take your air-fried tater crowns to a whole new level?
Try making them into loaded crispy crowns, by adding different flavors to them. One of our favorite ways is to turn them into a version of a loaded baked potato.
Top your loaded crispy crowns with shredded cheese, sour cream, chives, and any other delicious topping you want to enjoy.
How To Store and Reheat Crispy Crowns:
Storage
Room temperature. These potato crowns should be left at room temperature for no more than two hours when the room temperature is between 40°F and 90°F before they go bad.
If your room temperature is 90°F or above, then the tater crowns are only safe at room temperature for one hour or less.
In the fridge. If there happen to be any leftover potato crowns, then the best way is to store them in the fridge. First allow them to cool to room temperature, then store the tater crowns in an airtight container in the fridge, for up to 3 to 4 days.
Reheat
The best way to reheat any leftover tater crowns is to put them back into the air fryer. Usually air frying them at 350F for 6-8 minutes will do the trick of reheating them, so that they are nice and crispy.
