How to make Crescent Roll Cream Cheese Danish:

Step 1: How to Make the Crescent Dough Rounds

To begin making your cream cheese Danishes out of crescent rolls, open the can of crescent rolls leaving your rolls completely rolled up. Take a knife and cut your tube of crescent rolls into approximately eight slices.

Make sure the slices are patted together so that they won’t unravel, then place them evenly spaced onto a lightly greased cookie sheet.

Step 2: How to Make the Indentation

Once your crescent rolls are evenly spaced in round circles on your cookie sheet, take your large tablespoon measuring spoon and create a slight indent in the center of each role. This is where you will place your cream cheese filling.

Step 3: Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling

Now, take a mixing bowl and add your cream cheese. Whisk your cream cheese with a hand mixer until it is soft and creamy. Add in powdered sugar, vanilla, eggs, a pinch of salt, and lemon juice. Mix until smooth and creamy.

Notes

You can choose to serve your crescent roll cream cheese Danish once they have cooled from the oven, or after they have been refrigerated. My personal preference is to enjoy them after they have completely chilled in the refrigerator, however, you may prefer them to be slightly warm.

Tips For Making These Easy Danishes:

Make-Ahead. If you are like me and enjoy a cream cheese Danish that has had a chance to chill in the refrigerator, then I highly recommend that you make them ahead of time.

Cream cheese Danishes are delicious in my opinion, when they are baked the evening before, and then refrigerated overnight in an airtight container. This allows them to chill in the flavors meld together and become much tastier. However, this is optional, and not a requirement for this recipe.

Leftover Cheese Danish. How should I store leftover cream cheese Danishes? For this recipe, we highly recommend that you store any leftover cream cheese Danishes in the refrigerator. You will find that they will have the best flavor and keep the best when stored in an airtight container in your refrigerator.

You can also choose to store leftover cream cheese Danishes in the freezer; however, it may slightly change the texture of the cream cheese once frozen.

Can I freeze these cream cheese Danishes? Although cream cheese Danishes may be frozen, we do not recommend it. When cream cheese is frozen, it tends to change in texture and not be as good once thawed. We recommend that you store leftover crescent roll cream cheese Danish in the fridge in an airtight container for up to four days, then discard anything remaining.

Can I use Puffed Pastry? Yes, you can use puff pastry instead of canned crescent rolls if you wish for this recipe. You can prepare them in a similar manner, or you can simply mayor the puff pastry with cream cheese filling in the center. Either way is delicious.

Cream Cheese Squares

You can use the above recipe and make a cream cheese Danish square using an 8 x 8 pan. To do this, take half of your crescent rolls, and lined an 8 x 8 cake pan with them. Pinch together any perforated marks.

Next, take your cream cheese filling and spread it evenly on top of your first layer of crescent rolls. Thake your remaining half of the crescent rolls on top of the cream cheese filling mixture, and if desired brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar.

You can do this by folding your crescent roll dough over your filling, then slicing halfway through your loaf, then shaping it into a ring. Or you can prepare as above, then bake your crescent rolls arranged in a circle.

Another gorgeous where you can prepare your Crescent roll cream cheese Danish is to roll out your crescent rolls, then add a line of filling down the center.

Take each side and cut approximately 1 inch across with a pizza cutter until you reach the filling. Then fold each side towards the center, alternating sides. This will make your Danish look like it is made in a braided loaf.

Cream Cheese Danish Christmas Tree
