The Best Caramel Dip
Ingredients for this Caramel Sauce Recipe
Butter. Unsalted butter is recommended for this recipe. However if you want a slightly more of a salty flavor, you can go ahead and use salted butter.
Sweetened condensed milk. A can of sweetened condensed milk is recommended for the best overall flavor and texture of this sauce recipe.
Light corn syrup. We recommend using light corn syrup, or Karo syrup for this recipe. It is important that you choose the light corn syrup, rather than dark corn syrup. The dark corn syrup will give you a different overall texture and flavor.
Brown sugar. You can use either light brown sugar or dark brown sugar for this recipe. The main difference between the two is that you will have slightly more of a molasses flavor with dark brown sugar.
Vanilla. Vanilla extract is recommended to flavor your sauce.
Salt. For this recipe, you can use kosher salt, sea salt, or iodized salt, whichever one is your favorite.
How to Make Caramel Sauce
Start by placing a large saucepan over medium heat. Into the saucepan add your butter and allow it to heat until melted.
Once melted, add your can of sweetened condensed milk, light corn syrup, and brown sugar.
Stir the mixture to combine all the ingredients, then continue stirring as your mixture warms over medium low heat.
Bring the caramel sauce mixture to a low boil. You should begin to see bubbles popping. Once you begin to see evidence of it boiling, allow it to boil for one minute, and then remove it from the heat.
Add in the vanilla extract, and salt. Stir to combine.
Now that your sauce is prepared. We recommend allowing it to cool slightly before serving, enjoy!
