Slow Cooker

You. can reheat a green bean casserole by putting it into a crockpot or slow cooker on low heat for 1 to 2 hours, or high heat, for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Please note that the time may vary depending on your specific slow cooker. Some heat faster than others.

The idea is that you simply want to reheat it in the slow cooker until it is warmed through. Reheating it in the slow cooker is ideal, especially if your oven is full.

Microwave

Another way to reheat your leftover green bean casserole is in the microwave. Microwaving it is quick and easy but could make the French-fried onions on top of your casserole mushy, rather than crispy.

However, if you’re looking for the fastest method, then microwaving your green bean casserole leftovers is likely going to be the fastest option.

How to Reheat Green Bean Casserole in Microwave

To reheat your green bean casserole in the microwave, first transfer the green bean casserole into a microwave-safe bowl, or another type of microwave-safe dish.

Oven

The best way, in our opinion, to reheat a green bean casserole is to reheat it in the oven. When doing this, it’s important that you use a room-temperature casserole dish, so that you’re not putting a cold glass dish into a hot oven.

You can also use a lid to cover the casserole dish, or cover with aluminum foil if you wish to cover it. Otherwise, you can simply leave it open, especially if you want the French-fried onions to become crispy.

If you have to use a cold dish in the oven, then you will want to place the cold dish into a cold oven, most of the chances of cracking the dish are much less.

How to Reheat Green Bean Casserole in the Oven

To reheat a green bean casserole in the oven, preheat the oven to 350°F.

Transfer the leftover green bean casserole into a casserole dish, if desired add additional French-fried onions to the top.

Cover the casserole dish with a lid, or aluminum foil if desired, then place the casserole dish into the oven, and bake for approximately 15 to 20 minutes or until the green beans are warmed through.

If you chose to cover the casserole dish, you may want to remove the lid, for the last five or eight minutes of cooking, so that the French-fried onions become crispy.

After the green bean casserole is warmed all the way through, remove it from the oven, serve, and enjoy!

Stovetop

Another way you can reheat leftover green bean casserole is in a pan on the stovetop. This method is less common but can be done if necessary.

You would likely want to use a cast-iron skillet, Dutch oven, or another type of pan that heats evenly.

Place it over medium heat and allow it to warm for a few minutes until the casserole is warmed all the way through.

When the casserole has heated all the way through, remove it from the stovetop, serve, and enjoy.

Air Fryer

Another way you can reheat your green bean casserole is in the air fryer. To do this you will need an air fryer that is large enough to fit a casserole dish or another type of dish.

Please note that this method is not ideal for everyone, because some air fryers are much too small to reheat more than one serving.

If your air fryer has a re-heat setting, we recommend using that. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F, on the reheat setting if possible.

When preheated, add your green bean casserole to the air fryer basket. The amount of time that it takes to reheat your leftover green bean casserole in the air fryer will vary depending on your specific air fryer.

It could take anywhere between 5 to 10 minutes for it to warm all the way through. We recommend checking on your green beans occasionally until they are warmed through.

Once they are warmed all the way through, remove them from the air fryer, then serve, and enjoy.

Please note: you may want to cover your green bean casserole with aluminum foil before reheating it in the air fryer depending on how close your air fryer basket is to the heating coil.

If you choose to cover it with aluminum foil, and we recommend poking holes in the foil, so the air can still circulate into your green beans.

Toaster Oven

Another way you can reheat leftover green bean casserole is in a toaster oven. A toaster oven is very similar to an air fryer.
