Best Beef with Garlic Sauce Recipe

Ingredients Needed

Thinly sliced beef. For this recipe, we recommend using thinly sliced chuck steak or chuck eye center.

We have also had a great experience using thin-sliced rib-eye or thin-sliced beef for stir fry.

Whatever your favorite type of beef is, feel free to use it for this recipe, only make sure it is sliced thin.

Cornstarch. In this recipe, cornstarch is used to help thicken the sauce and dip the beef. Although you can substitute cornstarch for flour, we strongly recommend that cornstarch is used.

Egg. We recommend including a couple of eggs to dip the beef. This helps give the beef a nice texture and flavor.

Garlic. Garlic is an important ingredient. We recommend that you use freshly minced garlic or minced garlic purchased in a jar from the grocery store.

Onions. Onions are optional, but we do recommend including white or yellow onions in this dish for added flavor.

Olive oil. We recommend that you use olive oil for sautéing the garlic. If needed you may substitute olive oil for other oils such as avocado oil, canola oil, vegetable oil, or peanut oil.

Soy sauce. Soy sauce is used to help create the sauce in this recipe. It gives the dish a delightful flavor as well.

Garlic salt. We also recommend including a bit of this salt to season your garlic sauce and beef.

How to make Beef With Garlic Sauce

Making beef with garlic sauce is quite simple and it is fabulous. To start off making this dish, first, be sure that your beef is cut into thin slices. If it is not you will want to carefully cut the raw beef into thin slices.

Place a wok or deep skillet over medium heat. Add your oil, minced onions, and garlic. Sauté the mixture for a few minutes until the onions are translucent in color.

Add your beef into the heated pan with garlic and onions, and cook the beef over medium-low heat until it is mostly cooked. This likely will not take very long, usually around 5 to 8 minutes.

When the beef is mostly cooked, add your soy sauce, water, corn starch, and garlic salt to the pan. Stir until the beef is coated.

Remove from the heat and serve right away. Enjoy!

How To Make Garlic Beef Stir-Fry

If you want to make the beef with garlic sauce into a full meal stir fry, we recommend adding broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, and sugar snap peas to the mixture.

To make it into a stir fry, begin by adding the carrots and mushrooms to the mixture along with your onions and garlic. This will help to cook the mushrooms and carrots so that they are tender.

Then when you add soy sauce to the beef mixture, add in fresh broccoli florets, and continue cooking over medium heat just until the broccoli is tender. Remove from the heat, serve right away and enjoy.

You can also serve this dish along with cooked rice, or lo mien noodles.

Tips and Tricks

How to Slice Beef Thin. When it comes to cutting your beef into thin slices, it’s going to be easiest to buy the beef already sliced. If you are not able to find any beef pre-sliced, you can always ask the butcher at your grocery store to slice it for you. Some grocery stores will offer the service.

However, if you are not able to get it sliced from the store, you can cut it into thin slices simply by cutting the raw beef with a knife and cutting board. Be very careful to keep your fingers back as you are cutting.

How to Make Beef Tender. The trick to having tender beef is to first choose beef that is nicely marbled with meat and fat. Then, pick the meat over medium-low heat, so that it does not cook too fast.

Beef with Hot Garlic Sauce Recipe Substitutions

Cornstarch. We recommend that you dip the sliced beef in the cornstarch before cooking it. This will help your beef cook and will prevent lumps from forming in your sauce. However, if you are unable to find cornstarch, you may substitute this for all-purpose flour.

Soy sauce. We recommend cooking the beef with soy sauce for flavoring. However, if you are unable to find it you may substitute it for teriyaki sauce or Worcestershire sauce if you prefer.
