But an Icee and a slushie are very similar in consistency. We would describe it as more like a sweet drink that has a high density of crushed ice and one that can be enjoyed through a straw.
Make Your Own Snow Cone and Slushie Syrup
Perhaps you’d like to make your own snow cone and slushie syrup to have on hand for summertime parties or for anytime enjoyment. You can easily make and store your own and then simply add it to the crushed ice when you’re ready.
To make your own snow cone and slushie syrup you’ll need Kool-Aid unsweetened flavor packets, water and sugar. You’ll bring 1 ½ cups of water and 1 ½ cups of sugar to a boil until the sugar is dissolved and suspended.
Remove from the heat and stir in Kool-Aid packet until it’s dissolved. When you’re ready to use it, you can mix 2 cups of ice in the blender along with 1/3 cup water and 1 cup of sugar. Blend until the ice is crushed and the slushie is nice and smooth in consistency.

To begin, place 3 cups of ice inside a zipped gallon bag and add about ½ cup of table salt. This will make the ice begin to melt and will make it extremely cold at the same time.
The second step is to pour your favorite drink into the second zipped freezer bag and carefully zip it shut so that no leaks occur. Place this bag inside of the other bag that has the ice and salt. Let it sit until the drink mixture begins to crystalize and form ice.
Remove your slushie from the bag and pour it into a cup. Serve and enjoy.
