How to Air Fry Chicken Nuggets

Preheat your air fryer to 350°F.

To air fry chicken nuggets, pull the package from the freezer and open it. Add a single layer of frozen chicken nuggets to your air fryer basket.

Close the air fryer, and air fry at 350°F for approximately 8 to 10 minutes. The exact amount of time it takes to air fry your frozen chicken nuggets will depend upon your specific air fryer. We are using an Instant Brand air fryer to make our frozen chicken nuggets.

If desired, you can check on your chicken nuggets halfway through the cooking time, and shake the basket or turn the nuggets so that they are rearranged and cook evenly.

Once the chicken nuggets are warmed all the way through, you can remove them from the air fryer, serve them alongside your favorite dipping sauce, and enjoy!

How Long to Cook Chicken Nuggets in Air Fryer

Typically, if your air frying frozen chicken nuggets at 350°F, it will take between eight and 10 minutes for them to be cooked. However, this time may vary depending on your specific air fryer.

It is always a good rule of thumb to set your timer for less than you think you will need and add more time as desired.

Cook Time and Temperature

We recommend that you air fry your frozen chicken nuggets at 350°F for approximately 8 to 10 minutes or until they are warmed through depending upon your specific air fryer.

Tips and Tricks

Cooking Time. We recommend that you set the cooking time on your air fryer for less than you anticipate needing. Then add more until your chicken nuggets are done to your liking.

Extra Crispy. If you like your chicken nuggets extra crispy, you can try increasing the air frying temperature. But be sure to keep an eye on the nuggets so that they don’t become overcooked.

Internal Temperature. Most chicken nuggets come pre-cooked. This is something you will want to double-check to make sure yours are. If they happen to not come pre-cooked, you will want to be sure to air fry your chicken nuggets until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.

Cooking Variations

In addition to air frying your frozen chicken nuggets, you can also try cooking them using a few other methods if desired. The other two primary methods you could use to cook frozen chicken nuggets are to bake them in the oven or to microwave them.

Bake: To bake frozen chicken nuggets, you’ll want to preheat the oven to 400°F. And then pour your frozen chicken nuggets onto a rimmed cookie sheet, and arrange them in a single layer.

Place them into the oven and bake for approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

Microwave: You can also microwave chicken nuggets. To microwave them, arrange the nuggets on a microwave-safe plate in a single layer. The amount of time it takes for the chicken nuggets in the microwave will depend on how many nuggets you are trying to warm.

Microwave for one minute for less (approximately 5 nuggets) or 2 minutes and 30 seconds for more nuggets. Set the time for less and add more cook time as needed.

Storage and Reheating

Room Temperature. Chicken nuggets that have been cooked should remain at room temperature for no more than two hours before they go bad.

Fridge. Leftover chicken nuggets can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days. To refrigerate, place an airtight container or in a zipped plastic storage bag. Then refrigerate.

Freezer. We do not recommend refreezing chicken nuggets that have been heated. Rather, store them in the fridge for a few days and enjoy them within the specified amount of time.

Reheating. You can reheat leftover chicken nuggets in the air fryer, microwave, or oven. To reheat them, simply air fry at 350°F for 5 to 8 minutes or until they are warmed, microwave for a minute or two until they are warmed, or place them in the oven at 350°F for approximately 10 minutes or until they are warmed through.
