Proof The Dinner Rolls

Before you begin baking, we have found that for best results, it is a good idea to proof your dinner rolls. This means that you should allow the dinner rolls to thaw to room temperature and rise.

To begin allowing your frozen dinner rolls to proof, you will want to place them into the baking dish that has been lightly greased. Next, place them into a warm, dry location. For best results, you want the room temperature to be between 75 and 85°F.

Professional kitchens typically have a proofing box that they place the dough into which keeps it at the ideal temperature and climate. This allows the yeast to react and grow in the best possible scenario.

However, most of us home-cooks do not have this option. If your climate is not naturally warm, dry, and around the ideal temperature, you can achieve a similar effect by placing your bread into a warm oven, or into a warm air fryer.

The best way to reach a good temperature, since ovens do not have this range of temperature, is to preheat your oven or air fryer to approximately 170 to 200°F, and then turn the oven off when it gets around 110°F. You can then prop the oven door open a little bit or allow it to cool slightly before placing your dough inside to rise. When your rolls have risen to about double in size, you can then start the baking process.

Bake The Air Fryer Dinner Rolls

Now that you’re ready to bake your dinner rolls, it is important to note that the baking time and temperature may vary depending upon the type of air fryer you are using. We have found it best to error on the side of caution so that you don’t end up with crispy rolls on the outside, but raw on the inside.

Keep in mind, that your air fryer is a much smaller little oven than your actual stove is, therefore it will take a much shorter time to fully bake the rolls than it would to bake them inside of your oven.

The baking temperature usually ranges between 320°F (160°C), 350°F (176.7°C) and 360°F (182.2°C). However, as we mentioned above, it is often best to bake your rolls at a lower temperature, and simply add a few more minutes to the baking time.

When air frying your rolls at 350°F your rolls may take as little as five minutes to bake, whereas air frying them at 320°F, may take more like 10 to 15 minutes to cook. Set a timer, and check on your rolls often so that they do not over bake.

Flavor Your Dinner Rolls

After your dinner rolls are cooked, insert a toothpick into the center to be sure they are fully baked. Then, brush the tops of your rolls with melted butter before serving. Serve while the rolls are warm, then enjoy.
