How to Make a Cantaloupe Smoothie

Freeze Cantaloupe (Recommended):

We highly recommend that you use frozen cantaloupe for this recipe. To freeze your cantaloupe, wash the rind of your melon, then cut it open and remove the seeds. Cut your cantaloupe from the rind then place it into a plastic freezer bag. Freeze at least overnight, or longer before making smoothies.

Add ingredients to blender:

When you are ready to make your smoothie, add all of the ingredients to your blender.

Blend the smoothie and serve:

Blend your ingredients until they are completely smooth, and no chunks remain. Add toppings if desired, then serve immediately and enjoy!

Fresh vs. Frozen Fruit

Using frozen fruit allows your cantaloupe smoothie to be thick and does not require much ice which can water your drink down and decrease the overall flavor. Fresh fruit on the other hand tends to make a thinner, more watery smoothie, and does require additional ice to make it frozen.

Our opinion is that frozen cantaloupe allows you to make a thicker, and overall better tasting drink rather than using fresh cantaloupe. However, the choice of which version of cantaloupe to use is up to you.

Tips for Making This Recipe Perfectly

Why to add Greek yogurt. If you are able, you can use Greek yogurt in this recipe for a better flavor, and texture. However, if you are not able to locate Greek yogurt, plain yogurt or vanilla flavored yogurt also works great.

Choose a ripe cantaloupe. When selecting your cantaloupe to use for your smoothie, it is important that your fruit be ripe, rather than on the green side. A ripe melon will give your drink an overall better flavor and texture.

Wash the rind of the melon. Before you cut the cantaloupe open it’s important that you wash the rind of your melon so that you remove any unwanted germs or bacteria.

Tips for Making this Smoothie Ahead of Time

Making the actual smoothies themselves ahead of time is not recommended, as they do not freeze well, and are likely to change consistencies.

However, if you would like to speed up the smoothie making process, you can create smoothie packs, containing your ingredients such as fruit and ice that are measured out and frozen together.

Then all you must do is pour your ingredients into a blender, add your liquids, and blend.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How Can I Make My Cantaloupe Smoothie Thinner?

If your smoothie is looking a bit thick for your liking, you can simply add additional liquid to your blender and then blend for a few seconds. Some good liquids to add would be additional milk or apple juice. Another way you can make a thinner drink is to use fresh cantaloupe rather than frozen.

How Can I Make My Cantaloupe Smoothie Recipe Thicker?

To make your cantaloupe smoothie recipe on the thicker side you can simply decrease the liquid, and increase your frozen fruit and ice. Our favorite way to increase the thickness of your drink is to use more frozen cantaloupe, and decreased milk content.

How Can I Make My Smoothie Sweeter?

If you have a sweet tooth craving, you can make your smoothie sweeter by adding granulated sugar, honey, or Splenda to your smoothie then blend for a few seconds to mix it in.

Do smoothies keep?

Smoothies do not keep very well for long amounts of time. This smoothie recipe is the best enjoyed fresh from the blender. If you wish to keep it for a little bit in the fridge, it may last slightly longer, however, it is best enjoyed right away.

To keep it frozen for a length of time, your best bet is to transfer your smoothie once it is prepared to an insulated Tumblr, then sip on it as desired.

How to make cantaloupe smoothie with milk?

Our recipe above calls for milk when making a smoothie. This gives your beverage a creamier frothier texture. However, if desired you may substitute the milk for almond milk, or you can use apple juice or even pineapple juice in its place.

Can I make it vegan?

Yes, you can make a smoothie recipe vegan friendly, simply by substituting the yogurt for your favorite vegan friendly yogurt, and vegan friendly milk.

How long can I store it?

When stored in the freezer, or in a Tumblr, your smoothie may last for a couple hours max. However, your handmade smoothie is going to be best when enjoyed fresh from the blender.

Can I use frozen cantaloupe?

Yes, we actually recommend that you use frozen cantaloupe for your smoothie, as it provides a better and thicker texture for your smoothie.
