Corn Syrup. We also recommend that you use light corn syrup, or light Karo syrup for the best results when making this cornflake candy. However, if you need a substitute, you could also use honey, maple syrup, or molasses.

Sugar. Granulated sugar is also used to help sweeten this candy recipe. If you need to substitute, you can also use brown sugar or honey.

How to make Peanut Butter Corn Flake Candy

To start, take a thick saucepan and place it over medium heat on your stove. Into the saucepan add corn syrup and sugar. Stir the ingredients together and continue stirring occasionally as the ingredients warm and melt together.

Continue stirring over medium heat until the mixture begins to bubble lightly. The ingredients just need to come to a boil but do not boil long. You are looking for the sugar to dissolve in the mixture.

When the mixture starts to boil very lightly, add the peanut butter, stir it in, then remove it from the heat. Pour in the corn flakes and add the vanilla. Stir to combine.

Place parchment paper onto a clean surface such as a countertop or you can even use a cookie sheet.

Scoop the cornflake candy into balls and placed them onto the parchment paper to dry. Work quickly so that they do not set before they are scooped. Then let them cool and dry for a few minutes before enjoying them.

Tips & Tricks

Use a Scooper. Use a large cookie scoop if you can find one. This makes it easier to remove the cornflake candy from the scooper as you work.

Don’t Over Boil. This peanut butter mixture does not need to be boiled long on the stovetop, and it just needs to come to a very light boil in order for the ingredients to combine.

Let Cool. Before serving this cornflake candy, it’s a good idea to let it cool to room temperature, so that it does not burn you, and so that it has a chance to dry.

How to Serve

The delicious cornflake candy can be served in scoops after it has had a chance to dry out, and cool to room temperature. Once it has dry, you are ready to serve and enjoy the delicious peanut butter flavored cornflake candy.

How do you store cornflake candy?

The best way to store the cornflake candy after it has had a chance to cool is to place it into an airtight container, with layers of parchment paper in between to keep them from sticking to each other. The airtight container can be stored at room temperature for up to 10 to 14 days, depending on your climate.

How to make corn flake Christmas wreaths

Another variation of this recipe that is especially popular around Christmas time is to make cornflake Christmas wreaths. To do this, the recipe is the same, except you will want to add green food coloring to the mixture before adding the corn flakes.

Then, after your mixture has been combined completely, scoop the corn flakes onto parchment paper, and shape them into wreaths. Decorate as desired.

Chocolate Cornflake Candy

You can add chocolate to these cornflake candies in a variety of ways. The first way is to add cocoa powder or chocolate chips to the saucepan as you are melting the ingredients.

The other way you can enjoy chocolate cornflake candy is to drizzle the corn flake candy with melted chocolate after it has been scooped and is drying. Either way, both allow you to enjoy a bit of chocolate added to the peanut butter cornflake candy.

Honey Cornflake Candy

Another variation of this recipe is to make cornflake candy with honey. To do this, you’ll want to replace part of the corn syrup mixed with honey, so that it is made up of one-half part honey and one-half part corn syrup. Otherwise, this variation can be prepared and instructed upon.

Yes, you can make cornflake candy in advance if you want to. Simply be sure to store the cornflake candy in an airtight container, with parchment paper, or something to keep the candy from sticking to each other.

How long does Cornflake Candy last?

If stored properly, after the candy has completely cooled, and dried out, it will last up to 10 to 14 days in an airtight container.

Can I put them on aluminum foil?

We do not recommend that you let the cornflake candy cool on aluminum foil. This is because the candy is quite sticky and will likely have foil bits sticking to the candy, which means you could end up eating aluminum foil. This is not recommended.

Why do they turn out gooey?

Most likely, the reason the cornflake candy turned out gooey is either that it did not come to a boil, or the sauce-to-cornflake ratio is too high. To fix this, you can try adding additional cornflakes cereal into the mix.
