Cheesy Bean And Rice Burrito Ingredients

Refried beans. Refried beans can be homemade or fresh from a can. You can also choose to use full fat or fat free refried beans for this recipe, it’s entirely matter of your preference.

Seasoned Rice. You can use Spanish rice or Mexican rice for this recipe. Our favorite is to use yellow Spanish rice, but if made a flavored Mexican rice will also be delicious in these wraps.

You can find a package of Spanish rice, in the Mexican section of most large grocery stores.

Cheese. For the closest copycat of Taco Bell, we recommend using warmed nacho cheese in the burrito. However, you may also choose to use shredded cheese, or another type of melted cheese in the burritos instead.

Jalapeño sauce. Taco Bell’s cheesy bean burritos are seasoned with their signature jalapeño sauce. You can buy jalapeño sauce at your local grocery store, or make your own by mixing ranch dressing, jalapeño pepper, ground cayenne pepper, paprika, cocoa powder, sugar, Sriracha sauce, onion salt, garlic salt, and cumin.

Or if you prefer something that’s not so spicy, you can use ranch dressing, or garlic aioli sauce.

Flour Tortillas. Large flour tortillas are used to wrap your bean burrito. You can use any type of large tortilla shell you prefer, but for the most like Taco Bell, we recommend using flour tortillas.

How to Make These Burritos

Jalapeño sauce

In a small mixing bowl combine your ranch dressing, diced jalapeño pepper, cayenne pepper, cocoa powder, paprika, sugar, Sriracha sauce, onion salt, garlic salt, and cumin.

Stir until combined. Set the sauce aside until you are ready to assemble the burritos.

Cooking The Rice For The Burrito

To make your cheesy bean and rice burrito, start by cooking the rice for your burrito. We recommend using a package of seasoned yellow rice for the best and easiest meal. However, you can make your own Mexican rice if desired.

Cook your rice according to the package instructions until it is done, and then set aside.

Cooking The Beans For The Burrito

Open the can of refried beans and add to a small saucepan over low heat, or into a microwave safe bowl.

Add 1 tablespoon of water and stir to combine. Heat over low heat, until the beans are warm.

Assembling The Bean And Rice Burrito

To assemble the bean burrito, first place a flour tortilla flat on a clean surface.

Next begin layering your ingredients. We recommend starting with a layer of refried beans, followed by rice, nacho cheese, and topped with your jalapeño sauce.

Roll the wrap into a burrito.

Next place a skillet over medium high heat, and drizzle with oil. Place your burritos onto the heated skillet, and toast both sides until they are a light golden brown.

Remove them from the skillet, serve right away and enjoy!

Tips & Tricks

Warm ingredients ahead of time. We strongly recommend that you warm the filling ingredients before assembling the burrito. Although it’s not required, we have found that the results are much more enjoyable, as your burrito is warmed all the way through.

Preheat the skillet to toast. We recommend using a griddle or skillet to toast your burritos after they have been assembled. We have found that it works best to preheat the skillet so that it is warm and ready to go when the burritos are added.
