Sliced Potatoes In Air Fryer

Ingredients Needed For Air Fried Sliced Potatoes

Potatoes. We like to use Yukon gold potatoes but you can also use red potatoes or even russets for this recipe. Each one has a slightly different texture, but they all taste great.

If you choose to use russets, we do recommend that you peel them before slicing.

Oil. We recommend that you use olive oil to coat your potatoes. You could also use avocado oil, vegetable oil, canola oil, or your favorite type of oil, just make sure that it has a higher smoke point.

Garlic salt. One of our favorite seasonings to use when making this recipe is garlic salt with parsley. You can find this mixture at most large grocery stores, but we typically pick it up at Aldi.

Sea salt. We use course sea salt for this recipe, but you may use kosher salt, or even iodized salt if you prefer.

Italian seasoning. A little bit of Italian seasoning included in these potatoes also gives you a tasty flavor.

How To Air Fry Potato Slices

How to Slice Potatoes

Begin by slicing your potatoes so that they are cut fairly thin. We like to carefully use a mandolin slicer on the thickest setting, to cut the potatoes evenly.

However, you can also carefully use a large sharp knife to cut each potato so that it is approximately 1/8 inch thick (or a little more).

After the potatoes are all cut, you can add them to a large mixing bowl and rinse in water. Then cover the potatoes with clean water and let them soak in the water for 15 minutes.

After they have soaked, drain the water, and replace the sliced potatoes back into the mixing bowl.

Drizzle the potato slices with oil, and sprinkle with sea salt, garlic salt, and Italian seasoning. Toss the potatoes so that they are all coated with oil and seasonings.

Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (204.4°C)

Once your air fryer is preheated, add some potatoes to your air fryer basket. Preferably arrange them in a single layer. Please note that you may need to cook several batches of your air fryer sliced potatoes in order for them to all get baked.

Replace the air fryer basket into the air fryer and air fry for approximately eight minutes. Toss the potatoes to rotate, then continue air frying for another seven minutes or until your potatoes are as crispy as you like them to be.

Remove from the air fryer and add to your serving dish. Sprinkle with additional Italian seasoning if desired, then serve right away and enjoy.

If needed, you can repeat this process until all of your potatoes are cooked.

You can serve your air fried, sliced potatoes, fresh from the air fryer, simply, as is, or you can add other toppings if desired.

Some of our favorite toppings include additional Italian seasoning, parsley, shredded cheese, green onions, bacon, bits, and sour cream.

Storage Suggestions

At room temperature. We recommend that you keep your air fried potatoes at room temperature for no more than two hours before you either refrigerate them or throw them away.

In the fridge. Leftover sliced potatoes can be kept in the fridge in an airtight container or sealed in a plastic storage bag once they have cooled. They may be kept in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days.

Reheating Instructions

Air fryer. The best way to reheat your leftover sliced potatoes is in the air fryer. First, preheat your air fryer to 350°F, then add your potatoes to the air fryer basket. Air fry for a total of 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway, or until your potatoes are warmed all the way through.

In the oven. If you have a large number of sliced potatoes to reheat, you may want to do this in the oven. To do it, preheat your oven to 350°F. Then add your sliced potatoes onto a cookie sheet, and place into the oven for approximately 10 to 15 minutes or until the potatoes are warm.
