First things first, you will want to preheat the oven to 400°F.
The oven is preheating, take the whole sweet potatoes, and wash them thoroughly. After they are washed, take a knife, and poke holes in the thickest part of the potato.
Next, break off a piece of foil, that will wrap completely around your sweet potato. Drizzle with olive oil, then add a light sprinkle of salt.
Arrange the sweet potatoes wrapped in foil, on a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet. Please note that you can add them directly to the oven rack, but occasionally they will leak, and create a mess in the oven. This is why I like to place them on a rimmed baking sheet. You can also line the baking sheet with parchment paper if desired for easier clean up.
When the oven is preheated, and your potatoes are ready, please it’s a baking sheet into the hot oven. Bake for approximately 45-60 minutes at 400°F.
Please note that the baking time may vary for your sweet potatoes, depending on the size of the sweet potatoes.
To tell when your baked sweet potatoes are done, try poking them with a fork. When they are fork tender, meaning that the potatoes feel soft and poked with a fork, and are met with very little resistance, remove them from the oven and allow them to rest for a few minutes before unwrapping the foil.
Serve your baked sweet potatoes with a little bit of butter, and top with a sprinkle of brown sugar before serving. Then serve and enjoy!
