Braised Beef Chili

large sauté pan
green pepper, stemmed, seeded and chopped
large tomatoes, cored and chopped
clove garlic, minced
can chili beans
can kidney beans
add chopped carrot if desired
add sweet corn if desired
lean ground beef
In a large sauté pan, thoroughly cook the ground beef.
Peel and chop carrots, mince onion, green pepper and garlic. Add vegetables to sauté pan and cook on medium low until tender.
Wash tomatoes and core them. Puree tomatoes in the blender or food processor, until you have created a nice tomato paste. This will serve as the chili base.
In a large soup pot, add the tomato puree and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat to low and allow the puree to simmer until becoming thickened.
Add vegetables, beef and beans to the soup base. Continue to simmer on low heat.
Add chili powder to season.
