Melt ¼ cup of butter in pour into the bottom of your casserole dish. Add half of your shredded hash browns on top. Distribute evenly in the pan.
In a mixing bowl, combine cream of chicken soup, sour cream, milk, and green onions. Stir to combine. Next, pour the sauce mixture on top of your layer of hash browns. Distribute evenly.
On top of the sauce, distribute the remaining hash browns evenly on top of the casserole. Then sprinkle with cheese, and corn flakes. Drizzle the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter on top of the casserole. Bake for 55 minutes. Once cooked, remove, and allow to cool for five minutes before serving. Serve while hot and enjoy.
