Before you begin grilling apples, you will need to prepare the apples. To do this, you will want to wash the apples and wipe them dry. Be sure to remove any stickers they may have on them. You will also want to remove the stems.
Then, there are two ways you can cut your apples to grill. You may cut them into slices vertically like you normally would eat them, or you can grill apple slices cut horizontally. We often prefer to cut them horizontally as they make a nice presentation, but it is completely up to you.
Next, in a bowl, add your apple slices, and cover with water and a little bit of lemon juice. Let your apples rest while your grill preheats.
While you are preparing your apples for the grill it is a great idea to light your grill and allow it time to preheat. Once it is warm you can add your apples.
Remove your apples from the lemon water and brush one side with melted butter. Place buttered side down on the grill grates. (If your apple slices are too small for the grill grates, you may place them on aluminum foil so that they don’t fall through.)
Let your apples cook for 5-10 minutes before turning. Before you turn, brush the other side of your apples with the remaining butter, then turn. Cook for another 5-10 minutes on the final side.
When your apples are soft, place a sheet of aluminum foil on the grill. Add your apples on top of the aluminum.
Sprinkle the top of your apples with your sugar and spice mixture. Allow the sugar to start to melt, then remove it from your grill.
Now get creative according to how you want to serve them
Before you serve, add any toppings to your grilled apples that you desire. Then serve the apples while they are still warm, and enjoy!
