Ingredients for Pepperoni Stuffed Crust Pizza

The Crust

Water. Warm water is an essential ingredient for your pizza crust. Ideally, you want the temperature of your water to be between 95°F and 110°F. This is warm enough for you to touch with your hand, but it will not feel hot, just lukewarm.

Yeast. A good brand of active dry yeast is important for making your pizza dough rise properly. Make sure that your yeast is not expired and be sure to allow time for the yeast to react when adding it into the recipe.

Sugar. A little bit of granulated sugar is needed for the pizza crust. This is what will feed the yeast and help it to react and rise.

Flour. Your basic all-purpose flour is all you need in order to make a delicious pizza crust.

Salt. Salt is also important to add flavor to your pizza dough. You can use kosher salt, sea salt, or iodized salt.

Stuffed Crust

Mozzarella cheese sticks. To stuff your crust, we recommend using mozzarella cheese sticks. You can use these as whole sticks, or you can cut the sticks, so that the crust is smoothly rounded.

Pepperoni. In order to make your pepperoni stuffed crust pizza amazing, we recommend putting some pepperoni slices in with the mozzarella cheese sticks as you stuff the crust.

Pizza Toppings

Pizza sauce. You can use your favorite type of pizza sauce for this recipe. We recommend using a red pizza sauce, but if you have a different favorite, you can use that instead.

Mozzarella cheese. You can use a bag of shredded mozzarella cheese to top your pizza, or you can shred your own mozzarella cheese and add it on top of the pizza, either way works.

Pepperoni. We recommend topping your pizza with pepperoni. You can use your favorite type of pepperoni, it’s entirely up to you.

Olive oil. For the best results, we recommend brushing your crust with olive oil to help it brown and give it a delightful flavor.

Parmesan cheese. We recommend using grated Parmesan cheese to top your pizza. This is entirely optional, but it’s something we enjoy. We like to sprinkle it across the entire pizza, and the freshly oiled crust as well.

Italian Seasonings. Sprinkling Italian seasoning across the surface of your pizza, will give you a delightful Italian flavor.

Garlic Salt. We also enjoy sprinkling a little bit of garlic salt across the top of the pizza. It is entirely up to you, if you want to do this or not.

How to Make Pepperoni Stuffed Crust Pizza

How to make the pizza dough

The basic pizza dough

To begin, let’s look at how you make basic pizza dough. Start by warming your water, so that it is hot, but not too hot to touch.

Into the mixing bowl add your active dry yeast, sugar, and warm water. Stir the mixture so that the yeast dissolves. Let this mixture rest for 5 to 10 minutes or until it begins to form.

Next, into the foamy mixture add all-purpose flour and salt. With the dough hook, kneed this mixture until it forms a ball.

Remove it from the mixing bowl, then coat the mixing bowl in oil. Place your dough ball back into the bowl, and cover with a damp dish towel.

Place into a warm dry location until the dough doubles in size. This typically takes around one hour.

After the dough has risen, roll the dough into a pizza shape, and place it onto your pizza pan. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes and allow it to rise.

How to make a stuffed crust pizza

Now that your pizza dough is ready, it’s time to prepare the stuffed crust part of your pepperoni stuffed crust pizza.

Begin by unwrapping your cheese sticks and cutting each one into two pieces or three.

Place the sticks of cheese around the edge of your pizza dough. Leave enough room so that you can roll the dough over the cheese sticks.

Add pepperoni on top of the cheese sticks, then fold your pizza dough over both the cheese sticks and the pepperoni. Pinch the edge of the dough, so that it attaches back to the main part of the pizza.

The Pizza Toppings

Now into the main part of your pizza, add your pizza sauce and spread it out so that your entire base of the pizza is covered. Do not cover the stuffed crust.

Top with shredded mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, Italian seasoning, and garlic salt if desired.

Brush the crust with olive oil. Then, sprinkle the entire pizza with Parmesan cheese so that the crust, and center of the pizza picks up the Parmesan.

Preheat the oven to 425°F.

When your oven is preheated, add your pizza, and bake for 10 minutes. Turn the pizza, and continue baking for another 2 to 6 minutes, or until the pizza is done to your liking. Please note that the baking time may vary depending on your oven.

Remove from the oven and let the pizza rest for 5 minutes. Then slice the pizza, serve, and enjoy!

Tips for homemade pizza dough

Let Yeast Foam. It’s important that when the water, sugar, and active dry yeast are mixed together, they are thoroughly mixed, then allowed at least 5 to 10 minutes for the yeast mixture to foam.

Allow Enough Time for the Dough to Rise. We also recommend that you allow enough time for the dough to rise in a warm dry location, for about an hour, then for about 30 minutes after it has been rolled into a pizza shape.

This will help your pizza turn out so that it tastes the best.

How to Serve

Before serving your pizza, allow it to rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving. Then slice the pizza, serve and enjoy it while fresh.

Storage

Room temperature. We suggest that you do not allow this pepperoni stuffed crust pizza to sit at room temperature any longer than two hours. After that you run the risk of it growing unwanted bacteria and needing to be thrown away.

In the fridge. For longer storage, you can transfer your cold pizza to an airtight container or place it in a plastic storage bag. Transfer it to the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days.

Reheating

There are many different ways you can reheat leftover pizza. Here are three of our favorite ways.

In the air fryer

Reheating leftover pizza in the air fryer is easy. Begin by preheating your air fryer to 350°F. Then open the air fryer basket, and add as many pizza slices as you can fit in a single layer.

Air fry for approximately five minutes, then check on your pizza to see if it’s done. If it’s done remove it from the air fryer, if not continue air fry for another two minutes, or until your pizza is warmed.

In the oven

You can also reheat many pizza slices in the oven. Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F. Arrange your pizza slices on a cookie sheet, or pizza pan.

When your oven is preheated, add your baking dish into the oven, and bake for approximately 10 minutes, then check on your pizza to see if it’s warmed.

In the microwave

The other way you can reheat leftover pizza is in the microwave. This works if you’re in a hurry, but it may change the overall texture of your pizza.

To reheat it in the microwave, place it on a microwave safe plate, then place it into the microwave for one to two minutes, or until your pizza is reheated.
