Mango Pineapple Fruit Base

As you might have guessed this smoothie recipe is made mostly by using pineapple and mango for the fruit base. You may choose to add additional fruits to your smoothie if you wish, such as bananas, oranges, or kiwi. No matter what, pineapple and mango should be included.

While you may find other recipes suggesting that you use one fruit frozen, and another fresh, our preference is to use both fruits in their frozen form. This will give your smoothie a lovely thick and creamy texture.

Mango Pineapple Smoothie Recipe (with Step by Step Photos)

Ingredients for the Mango Pineapple Smoothie:

Mango. Buy fresh or frozen mango for this recipe. Before you prepare your smoothie, you will want to cut it into chunks and fully freeze your mango.

Pineapple. You can also use fresh or frozen pineapple. It is recommended that if you are using fresh pineapple you cut it into chunks and allow it to fully freeze before making your smoothie.

Yogurt. Adding Lowfat Yogurt to your smoothie will help it have a creamy texture. Our favorite kind to use is Aldi’s low-fat vanilla yogurt, however, any kind of plain or vanilla yogurt may be used.

Juice. To add liquid to your smoothie, you can use your favorite kind of juice. Our favorite kind to use is either mango nectar or pineapple juice, however, you can also use orange juice, apple juice, or even your favorite kind of milk.

Typically, the juice will enhance your overall flavor, while milk adds creaminess to your smoothie. You could also try adding your favorite kind of alcohol for a boozy smoothie if desired.

Ice. While we recommend using frozen fruit, some people prefer using fresh fruit and also including ice. While our preference is to use frozen fruit, this allows you to skip including ice, if you choose to use fresh fruit you will want to include ice so that you end up with a frozen smoothie. You can also add ice to your frozen fruit smoothie if you want to stretch your penny a little farther!

How To Make Tropical Smoothies:

Step 1: Prep Ingredients

Before you begin making your smoothie, it is important to prepare all of your ingredients. If you are using fresh fruit, we recommend cutting it and freezing it overnight before you make your smoothie.

Step 2: Add Smoothie Ingredients to Blender

When all of your ingredients are prepared, you can start adding them to your blender. Make sure you are leaving some room at the top of your blender so that it can work properly.

Step 3: Blend Until Smooth

Once all of your ingredients are added to your blender, you can blend until your smoothie is completely smooth. You may need to open the mixture a few times and stir it so that there are no lumps remaining.

Step 4: Pour into Glasses

When your smoothie is completely blended, pour your mixture into your serving glasses.

Step 5: Serve the Mango-Pineapple Smoothies

If desired, you can add some slices of fresh fruit to your glasses, or top your smoothie with whipped cream. Serve right away and enjoy!

Equipment

There are a few kitchen gadgets you will want to be sure to have on hand when making any kind of smoothies. The equipment we would suggest you have in order to make this delicious recipe includes:

Blender

Rubber spoon or spatula

Insulated Tumbler or Glass

Best Smoothie Maker?

Although any kind of blender can work to make smoothies, some may require more effort than others to get your smoothie blended and completely smooth.

We have found that the best kinds of blenders have a tall blade that will chop your fruit better, rather than a small blade at the bottom. Our favorite is Ninja’s blender, but other brands may have a similar style of a blender.

Notes

When you make this delicious smoothie recipe, you can mix things up if desired and add your favorite ingredients. The most important thing to remember is to blend your smoothie until it is completely smooth, then serve it right away.

Chef’s Tips for making smoothies

Frozen Fruit. We have found that using frozen fruit allows you to decrease or skip the ice included, which increases the overall flavor of your smoothie. If you want you can still add a little bit of ice to make it go further, but it is not needed.

Blend, Blend, Blend. The key to an amazing smoothie is to blend your smoothie until it is completely smooth throughout your mixture.

Sweetener Optional. We believe that this smoothie recipe has enough natural sweetness to it. However, if you want to enjoy a sweeter smoothie, you can add a little bit of granulated sugar, honey, stevia, or maple syrup for additional sweetness.

How to Make or Prep Ahead of Time

Prep The Fruit. You can prepare the fruit for your smoothie ahead of time if you want to be able to grab it and go. To do this, we recommend that you measure your fruit and then place it in a freezer bag or airtight container and place in the fridge until you are ready to make your smoothies.

Ice Cube Trays. If you are wanting to completely make your smoothies ahead of time, this can be tricky to do. Often your smoothie will be very difficult to thaw perfectly or will become freezer burnt if it’s not stored well.

We have found that you can pour your prepared smoothie into ice cube trays and store it for a few days in your freezer. Then when you are ready to enjoy them, simply put them back into your blender, add a bit more juice, and blend. Then you have a smoothie that is ready to go.

Storage Instructions

Your mango pineapple smoothie should be enjoyed right after it is made for the best results and taste. Often times when it is stored for later your smoothie melts or may become freezer burnt.

To keep your smoothie the best for as long as possible we recommend placing it into a stainless insulated tumbler and enjoying the day it is made

Fridge Storage. Although it is not recommended, you can store your prepared smoothie in the fridge for a short amount of time before it completely melts. If you intend to do this we recommend transferring your smoothie to a stainless steel tumbler first.

Freezer Storage. If you want to store your prepared smoothie for longer amounts of time, we recommend pouring it into ice cube trays and then freeze for not more than two days. When you are ready to use, pour them back into your blender, with a little more juice. Blend and enjoy once more.

For the best results, we recommend that you do not store your smoothie, instead, this recipe is best when enjoyed right after it is prepared.
