What are copycat chipotle chicken burrito bowls?

There’s a subtle difference between the two menu items of a copycat chipotle burrito bowl and homemade chipotle chicken bowl.

Generally speaking, the burrito bowl has additional toppings of guacamole, cheese, salsa, and sour cream.

What is cilantro-lime rice?

Cilantro lime rice is made with fresh ingredients and can be used in Chipotle burrito bowls.

Though our recipe doesn’t call for cilantro lime rice, but rather uses white rice, it’s often used in burrito bowls rather than chicken bowls.

The best part is that cilantro rice uses fresh lime juice and has a delicious flavor that is complimentary to the chicken and other delicious ingredients.

How can I tell when chicken is done?

This recipe makes some excellent chicken and knowing how to tell when it’s done is important.

Using a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the chicken when doing meal prep is the most accurate way to make sure your chicken is fully cooked and making sure the internal temperature reaches 160F degrees.

Making sure you season chicken will also help to result in delicious chicken. The best kind of chicken for this recipe is tender chicken that’s been fully cooked.

How to make fluffy rice?

The best way to make fluffy rice is to use the right amount of water and cook it for the proper amount of time. When it finishes simmering, be sure to fluff it with a fork before serving.

Easy Chipotle Chicken Bowl Recipe

Following are our step by step instructions to make easy Chipotle chicken bowl. You’re sure to love all the delicious flavor that’s packed into this dish.

1 can black beans

1 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce

1 cup white rice, prepared

1 boneless chicken breasts

1 red onion, diced

1 small tomato, diced

1/2 tsp garlic powder

fajita veggies, onions, bell peppers

sour cream

olive oil

Prepare your white rice according to packaging instructions. After the rice has moved to its simmering stage, you can keep it warm and begin working on the other ingredients.

To prepare juicy chipotle chicken, remove any undesirable portions of the skinless chicken breasts, add a bit of olive oil to a frying pan and cook the chicken covered.

Add garlic powder, adobo sauce and cook until the chicken is completely cooked and the internal temperature reaches 160F degrees. Allow to cool slightly and dice finely.

Pan fry fajita vegetables of onions and bell peppers until they’re soft. Set aside and keep warm.

Prepare the black beans by draining and rinsing any liquid, heating them through in a saucepan on the stovetop.

Dice tomatoes, red onions, and cilantro.

Prepare the chicken rice bowls by assembling them. Place the white rice in the bottom of the bowl. Add chicken and black beans. Sprinkle with diced tomato, red onions, and cilantro.

Serve and enjoy.

Optional Ingredients

You can feel free to add any other favorite toppings to your chicken burrito bowl.

For example, if you like pinto beans they will add good protein to the dish. Tortilla chips add a nice crunchy texture as well. And chipotle chiles will give some added heat to the dish.

Substitute Ingredients

Looking for some substitute options for your chicken burrito bowl recipe? Perhaps you don’t eat starch and would prefer to create a cauliflower rice bowl using cauliflower rather than consuming just rice.

Fresh pico de gallo and sweet corn salsa make a tasty addition and can be used instead of the fresh diced tomatoes and fresh corn.

Maybe you prefer dark meat chicken as opposed to white meat chicken. If that’s the case, then using boneless chicken thighs might just be what you’re looking for.

Cilantro lime rice has the potential of adding delicious flavor to the dish compared to simply using white rice. Or brown rice is another option.

And if you’d like a little more of an addition of green color and texture, consider adding some shredded romaine lettuce to the mix.

Optional Cooking Methods

The two main items that need to be carefully prepared in this recipe are the chicken and the rice. And there are many different cooking methods besides the ones we’ve mentioned in our recipe above that can potentially be used.

For the chicken, you can consider cooking it in a grill pan or large skillet on the stovetop.

An outdoor grill would also work if you’re savvy about cooking chicken on the grill.

Do you have an air fryer? Cooking chicken in the air fryer has also become a commonplace in recent years. Feel free to use whatever cooking method is preferred and desired.

If you’re planning to be gone for the day, you might like to cook your chicken in a slow cooker or have your rice ready when you come home from work by using a rice cooker. These are great options for streamlining the meal preparation process.

How to Store Leftovers

If you’re fortunate enough to have leftover food from making your Chipotle Chicken Bowl Recipe, you can store the contents in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.

Simply use an airtight container for food storage inside the refrigerator.

If you don’t like your food to touch, you can also use separate containers for each food item to make sure they maintain their own flavors while being stored.

Using a sealed container will help to keep the air out and will help to maintain freshness for as long as possible.

Your food should not be stored at room temperature for any longer than 2 hours if the room temperature is at 90F degrees or below.
