Peanut brittle is somewhat of an old-fashioned candy that’s made on a sheet pan. It’s a delicious treat any time of year and is especially well known during the Holiday season.

Peanut Brittle Recipe
We’ve written down our favorite recipe for Amish Peanut Brittle here.
To make it, you’ll need a few simple ingredients such as water, sugar, corn syrup, butter, the best peanut option, baking soda, vanilla, and salt. Our recipe doesn’t use peanut butter.
We also recommend using a rimmed baking sheet, oven mitts and a good candy thermometer. These tools will give you the best results.

To make this great recipe, you’ll heat the sugar mixture over medium heat to high heat until it reaches just the right temperature. You’ll want it to reach the hard crack stage to give it that nice crisp and crunchy texture.
Once the candy has cooled, you can crack it and prepare it for storage.
Can You Freeze Peanut Brittle?
Yes, freezing peanut brittle is a good idea as far as a long-term solution is concerned for lengthening the shelf life of your sheet candy.
We’ll even tell you how to do it without getting freezer burn and for the best results possible. So, gather up your best airtight storage containers and let’s get started.
How To Freeze Peanut Brittle?
One of the biggest benefits of freezing peanut brittle is that it will help it to last a long time, compared to storing it at room temperature.
You might be tempted to toss all of your cooled and broken peanut brittle candy in a ziplock bag and put it straight in the freezer. But we don’t recommend that.

The best way to freeze your peanut brittle is by using an airtight container and wax paper. After the candy has cooled, break it into bite sized pieces or smaller pieces if desired.
Then place a layer of wax paper in the bottom of the airtight container. Spread a single layer of candy on the wax paper. Then place another sheet of wax paper on top of the layer of candy. Continue the layering process using wax paper and candy until you’ve packaged all the candy.
Place the filled airtight container in the freezer. Pull out the desired amount of candy at a time, placing the remainder back in the freezer. We recommend using the candy within 2 months for the best quality.
How To Store Peanut Brittle?
Perhaps you’d rather not freeze your peanut brittle because you don’t have extra freezer space, or whatever the case might be. But you want to know how to store it to maximize shelf life. There are some other options.
Room Temperature
You can store peanut brittle at room temperature for up to two weeks after it’s been made. We recommend layering the candy with parchment paper or wax paper between the single layers of candy to help keep it from sticking together.

You can also place the layers, using the paper in between, in a plastic container with a lid or glass jar.
The candy should be kept in a dry place, such as the kitchen counter.
Freezer
You can store peanut brittle in the freezer for up to 2 months, using our step-by-step instructions above for how to freeze peanut brittle.
Refrigerator
We don’t recommend storing peanut brittle in the refrigerator because it causes condensation which tends to make the candy sticky and it all ends up sticking together.
