A classic, American Meatloaf, is one of the all time best comfort foods for Americans. At our house, when this dish is served, we have a discussion about who gets the end piece, because the crispy crust is the favorite among the eaters at our house.

Shopping List
dried onion mushroom soup mix
onion
fresh parsley
ground beef
quick oats
mustard
kosher salt
ground pepper
milk
egg
red bell pepper (optional)
Equipment
large bowl
baking dish

Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350F. Prepare the vegetables. Peel and finely dice the onion, wash and chop the parsley. And wash, core, deseed and dice the red bell pepper.
With your hands, mix together all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Mix carefully and only enough to combine the ingredients. Over mixing can cause the loaf to dry out.
Lightly oil the sides and bottom of the baking dish. In the center of the dish, form the mixed ingredients into a loaf shape, leaving about an inch between the sides of the loaf and the sides of the baking pan. This will allow for a crispier loaf.
Bake, uncovered, for 35 minutes. Let the loaf cool for 5 minutes before serving.
